Moral Marketing: Doing Right with My Money and How to Ask in 2010.

I saw this video posted yesterday on pitchfork.com. Invisible Children is teaming up with La Blogotheque to send three bands, including the Polyphonic Spree, to Uganda in order to shed light on the incredible human disaster that is occurring there right now.

I feel incredible compelled to do something about this and I believe that has a lot to do with the way Kickstart and Invisible Children have presented this project:

Invisible Children has set out to raise the funds necessary to send these bands to Uganda and film the trip. They intend to cut their footage together into a film and sell the documentary to raise additional money for the crisis in Uganda.

In essence, our donations are proactively funding the documentary and project rather than the more common approach of reactively sending money to an aid organization.

I feel more involved, which is a powerful feeling to harness through marketing.
